Learning about the past helps students to better understand the present. The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum’s Education Programs continually strive to teach students about the vibrant past of this National Historic Landmark. LMMM’s docents, dressed in period costumes, begin the program by visiting classrooms and introducing the Mansion to students through a PowerPoint presentation and other teaching tools. Following that, the class then takes a trip to the Museum for a docent-led tour that explores its dynamic history, artistic legacy, outstanding architectural details, and life during the Victorian era. LMMM tailors the school tours to the class attending, including elementary, middle, high school, and college students.
