Guided Tours

Exhibit Tour (60 min.)

Join us for a memorable 60-min. Guided Exhibit Tour of the Mansion’s 1st floor Period Rooms. A Museum Docent will lead you through the Mansion’s majestic 1st floor Period Rooms on an in-depth exploration of our new exhibition, Health, Healing & Addiction in 19th Century America, highlighting the birth of modern medicine and its scientific breakthroughs and featuring rare artifacts, instruments, costumes and photographs, drawn from those once owned by the Lockwood and Mathews families, as well as loans from major private collections and public institutions. The tour will also include our new contemporary art exhibition, Envisioning Space: Architecture Through the Ages (through Jan. 2, 2022), in collaboration with Stamford Art Association, and the award-winning Servants’ Quarters on the mezzanine floor. Please note that this tour does not visit the 2nd floor bedroom suites or family room.

House Tour (90 min.)

Join us for a memorable 90-min. Guided House Tour of the Mansion. A Museum Docent will lead you on an exploration of the Mansion’s majestic 1st floor Period Rooms, featuring an overview of our new exhibition, Health, Healing & Addiction in 19th Century America, and our new contemporary art exhibition, Envisioning Space: Architecture Through the Ages (through Jan. 2, 2022), in collaboration with Stamford Art Association, as well as the 2nd floor bedroom suites, family room and the award-winning Servants’ Quarters.

Purchase Tickets

All tickets are available for purchase in advance. Walk-ins are welcome to purchase tickets at the door, and subject to availability. Tour capacity is limited. We ask that you are ready for the tour 5 minutes prior to start time. Whether you’ve reserved a ticket ahead of time or are a walk-in on the day of, latecomers will not be guaranteed a spot on the tour. All sales are final. No Refunds.

Our friends from the National Trust for Historic Preservation will receive a 10% discount. A membership card must be presented when purchasing admission tickets. Please call (203) 838-9799 to redeem discount.

$5 Mini Tours

The Museum offers $5 Mini Tours on various days throughout the season in place of docent-led Guided Tours. Mini Tours allows visitors to drop in at any time during the hours of operation and explore the first floor of the Mansion at their leisure, with docents present in each Period Room to provide information and answer questions. The admission fee of $5 applies to all visitors, including LMMM members.

Private Events

Walkthroughs for weddings, parties, and other private events are offered by appointment only.

Group Tours

~ New Rules and Measures to Address COVID-19 Health & Safety Concerns ~

COVID-19 Rules and Measures

The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff are our highest priority. Therefore, we continue to implement the state’s regulations, CDC guidelines, and industry standards for best museum practices during the ongoing pandemic with the following rules and measures established for your visit:

MASKS

All visitors will be required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.

• If you have a medical condition that keeps you from wearing a mask, we ask you to please visit at a later date.

• If you do not have a mask available, or your mask is deemed ineffective, the Museum will make a disposable mask available to you.

TICKETS

All tickets are available for purchase in advance here. Walk-ins are welcome to purchase tickets at the door, and subject to availability.

TOURS & SOCIAL DISTANCING

• Tours will be limited to 10 visitors to allow for safe social distancing from docents and other visitors.

• Social distancing shall be required for all Staff, volunteers and visitors in the Mansion. Social distancing means keeping 6 feet apart from guests, docents, and staff at all times during your tour. Our protocols on social distancing will be posted on signs around the Mansion.

• The Mansion will be open for tours Wed. – Sun., with tour times at 12, 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

SANITIZING

• The Museum will make hand sanitizer available at entrance points and common areas within the Mansion.

• We are taking great precautions in cleaning common areas with EPA approved cleaning products.

• Rules will be posted on our website and along the tour for your safety.

• Additionally, as stated above, all visitors will have to agree to these regulations before purchasing tickets to the Mansion.

By entering the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By visiting the Museum, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold liable for any illness or injury the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum of Norwalk, Inc. or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers.
