First Ladies Tea

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will host a First Ladies Tea on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2-4 p.m. The event, chaired by LMMM Trustee Hunter Arton will feature a talk titled, First Ladies: An Adventure in Glamour, Guts & Gumption by renowned tour guide, Mariann Millard.

The presentation will introduce the personalities and adventures of the women who became the First Ladies of the United States. Who were they really? What made them tick? Did they love or loathe their role? Did they sink or swim navigating the complexities of politics, protocol and publicity, whether they did so willingly or not?

Ms. Millard will present lively, humorous and engaging historical as well as modern facts and events about America’s First Ladies, while highlighting the important role they played, starting with Martha Washington.

Mariann Millard, is a Tour Director certified by the International Tour Management Institute, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, a Licensed Washington, DC Tour Guide, and holds a Bachelor of Science from Western Connecticut State University.

The program will include a hat contest with prizes, a silent auction, and a special drawing. All proceeds will benefit the Museum’s cultural and educational programs.
