Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, in collaboration with Silvermine Arts Center, will inaugurate its 2025 Season and the reopening of the Mansion after a two-year closure with a new contemporary art exhibition titled Reimagined Reflection. An artist reception will be held on June 12, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Admission to the gallery is included with the purchase of a guided tour.

LMMM Trustee Gail Ingis, who chairs the Contemporary Art Committee, said, “We have had a long and impactful collaboration with Silvermine’s Gallery Director Roger Mudre, and we look forward to working with him on this exciting exhibition.”

This exhibition will serve as a powerful metaphor for the Mansion’s renewal and transformation, reflecting broader themes of renaissance and new beginnings. Featuring abstract artwork by artists with deep ties to Silvermine, it will embrace the power of abstraction to evoke emotion, inspire reflection, and symbolize the potential for growth and change. This collaboration will highlight the vibrant artistic community connected to Silvermine and spotlight the Mansion’s first exhibition after a long hiatus.

Curated by Mr. Mudre, this exhibition showcases the diverse language of abstraction as explored by Silvermine Guild Artists: June Ahrens, Jan Dilenschneider, Katherine Draper, Rose Marie Fox, Stephanie Joyce, Nancy McTague Stock, Fran Henry Meehan, and Judith Steinberg. The collection highlights the unique approaches each artist takes to non-representational expression. The exhibition reveals the breadth and depth of abstract art within the Guild. Each artist, in their distinct voice, navigates the realms of color, form, and texture, demonstrating the enduring power and versatility of abstraction.

Silvermine Arts Center, one of the oldest artist communities in the United States, recently celebrated its centennial (1922–2022). Its fiveacre campus in New Canaan, Connecticut, consists of a nationally renowned artist guild, an awardwinning school of art offering classes for all ages, an arts and fine crafts shop, a permanent print collection, and a gallery offering over 15 contemporary and historic exhibitions annually.
