My Museum Adventure
Open to all middle school students 6th-8th grade in the Tristate area
The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is launching its 10th annual writing competition entitled, My Museum Adventure, which will start on September 14 and end on December 1, 2023 with an awards presentation in early 2024.
Young writers are tasked to write an essay about a historic landmark or a museum they have visited in the past or plan to visit in the future. What did they see and learn? Who was the most inspiring or memorable person featured? What was the most intriguing artifact displayed and why?
To make a convincing argument, students will have to conduct research on the institution or historic site they have visited or want to visit referencing noteworthy images, works, architectural details, stories, and adventures that have captured their imagination to make a convincing argument.
Award recipients and their families will be Guests of Honor at the Awards Ceremony in early 2024 at City Hall, in Norwalk, where they will receive prizes for their winning submissions. Requirements and guidelines for the competition will be posted on the Museum’s website and listed on the flyers.
